ELECTION WELCOMED

(Press Assn.—

LONDON "TIMES" OPINION

■By Telegraph — Copj'right.)

LONDON, Thursday. The "Times," commenting on the defeat of the Scullin Government, says the result of the election will be awaited with the deepest interest by the whole Empire. It is altogether to the good as things have developed, that the elections in New Zealand and Australia should take place before the Imperial Conference. They could not in any case have been long postponed and it is far better that any Government discussing plans for more effective economie co-operation should be stro'ng in the fresh confidence of the people instead of harrassed by doubts as to its fate.
