FEDERAL ELECTION

(Press Assn.-

MAJORITY OF CANDIDATES ARE ALREADY CHOSEN PARTY ORGANISATIONS READY

— By telegraph— Copyright).

Rec. Nov. 27, 9,50 p.m. SYDNEY, Friday. The stage is being feverishly set for the Federal election bh December 19. The writs are be- v ing issued to-morrow for ^5 seats in the House of Representatives and for 18 seats in the Senate. ElectOral officers throughout the Commonwealth ate workmg at high pressure. The party organisations claim that everything is ready for the campaign and the majorsty of the candidates have already been selected. The position of Mr. W. M. Hughes, who represents North Sydney, is interesting. Nationalists have not quite f oo-gotten the part that he played with a trio of others in hringing about the downfall of the Bruce Government, and although Mr. Hughes has since been reconciled and linked up with the United Australia Party, there is still some speculation whether he should carry the party endorsement. Another development Is the selection of Mr. Charles Ilardy to contest the Senate seat. Mr. Hardy is the leader of the Country movement which in recent months has extensively campaigned on behalf of the New State.

The Prime Minister (Mr. J. H. Scullin) will broa'dcast the Federal Labour policy from 3LO Station, Melbourne on Tuesday night and afterwards address the electors in his constituency at Richmond. The Lang plan party intend to wage an election war on the Ofiicial Labour members in New South Wales, but it is reported that their intrusion into other states is unlikely.
