Cobham, at the" annual meeting of the Empire Air Pilots' Guild, the Prince of Wales presented Mr. F. C. Chichester, the New Zealand airman, with the Johnston Trophy. He said he had had sufficient experience of flying in different parts of the world to know the greatness of the responsibility on air pilots and navigators. It was a profession giving valuable and courageous service. Mrs Johnston, widow of the R101 aero, whose memory the trophy perpetuates, was presented to the Prince who afterwards lengthily chatted with the pilots discussing air problems. Miss Amy Johnson congratulated Mr. Chichester, whom she last met in a Japanese hospital where Mr. Chichester was recovering after the Matsura crash. Miss Amy Johnson who was on her way to Russia via Japan, called to wish him good luck. Mr. F. C. Chichester is a New Zealander. He won great kudos by flying from London to Australia.
