Rec. Nov. 27, 7.10 p.m. WASHINGTON, Thurs. Mr. Green, President of the American Federation of Labour, declared to-day that unemployment had reached a new peak in industry with trade union figures showing 20. per cent workless. If it continues to increase at the present rate there will he 7,500,000 persons unemployed by* January. He added that as yet the relief funds collected were totally inadequate. The so-called community drive provided 36,OOOiOOO dollars of which all but 1*1,000,000 dollars were needed fof normal expenses. A number of relief organisations estimated the wage losses in industry during last year had reached 11,000,000,000 dollars and this had beert reflected in starvation and undernourishment of the workers' families.
