MAORI GATHERING
OPENING OF NEW DINING ROOM AT TE NGAE MEETING HOUSE MINISTER TO OFFICIATE A Maori gathering of considerable importance and interest will take place at Te Ngae on Saturday morning and over the week-end, when the Minister for Native Affairs, the Hon. Sir Apirana Ngata, will officially open the large new dining room which has been erected at the Taoitekura meeting house, headquarters of the Uenukukopako sub-tribe of the Arawas. All sections of the tribe will probably be represented and it is possible that advantage may be taken of the tribal gathering and the presence of the Minister to elect the provisional membership of the Arawa Trust Board for the ensuing year. Sir Apirana Ngata is at present on a tour of the Northern Maori districts, but so far there is no definite confirmation of the report that he will paa*ticipate in the Europeon election campaign, by speaking in Rotorua in support of the candidature of the Coalition candidate, Mr. C. H. Clinkard.
