MAROONED ON ROCKS

FISHERMAN'S TRYING ORDEAL DURING STORM WHALING LAUNCH TO RESCUE BLENHEIM, Monday.

Charles Cederholm, a middle-aged fisherman, had a trying experience when he was marooned on some rocks near the mouth of the Flaxbourne River during a southerly storm. Cederholm went out fishing in a flattie at noon on Saturday. Later the sea became rough and sank the boat. Cederholm serambled on to the rocks, and spent the night in an exposed position. His predicament was not discovered till later on Sunday, as there was no boat at the settlement. The poliee arranged for one of the Perano's whaling- launches to proceed to the scene from Tory Channel. At three o'clock this morning Cederholm was pescued and set on shore. He suffered surprisingly little from his ordeal. . ' "" «
