THRILLING STRUGGLE IN STATE CH AMPION SHIP C. GRAY WINS ONE UP SYDNEY, Monday. After a thrilling struggle C. Gray won the New South Wales open golf championship by one stroke from T. Howard. V. Richardson picked up before the finish. , Gray's scores were 70 and 77, and Howard's 73 and 75. The lead see-sawed in the afternoon round, and at the end of the seventeenth the players were level. Gray sent his tee shot seven feet from the pin. Howard played into the bunker, but recovered to within four feet of the hole. He missed the putt, and Gray was the winner.
