MELBOURNE, Saturday. While acting as an armed escort to three employees of a city firm who were carrying a bag contaiixing £940 to the bank, a ,plain clothes constable, Charles Derham, aged 29 years, was shot through the head when three armed handits held them up in Flinders Lane. | The rohhers then grabbed the money, and decamped in a car. The street was crowded at the time with late shoppers. The cOnstahle's condition is critical.
