FRENCH DECREE
no 'favoured nation' treaty I (British Official Wireless) RUGBY, Thursday. Attention was called in the House of Commons to the recent French de- [ cree imposing additional discriminating duties on imports from various countries, including Great Britain and her Dominions. | On behalf of the president of the Board of Trade, who was asked whether retaliatory measures were contemplated, it was stated the whole question of appropriate action was en1 gaging the serious consideration of the Govemment. 1 In reply to another question on the subject, as to whether French action ' was .in conformity with the most : favoured nation treaty with France it - was stated that although the United ' Kingdom's goods had received "most 1 favoured nation" treatment in France ! in the matter of duties under French ' law for some 50 years, there was no " treaty in . f orce under which either country was bound to accord such 1 ' treatment to the goods of the other.
