The romance associated with His Highness the Sultan of Johore and Miss Helen Wilson, daughter of a Kilmarnock (Scotland) business man, was eonsummated by a picturesque and magnifieent spectacle at the Sultan's palace, where the glittering and graceful figure of the former wife of a young doctor, practising in her present husband's dominions, became the Sultana over 350,000 Malay and Chinese subjects. The Sultana, who is a beautiful blonde, showed traces of nervousness when sitting on the throne surrounded by the splendours of the wealthy potentate, the cynosure of all eyes. She affirmcd her readiness to wear the crown of Johore and to foilow the Malay customs and religious usages. The Sultan, who is aged 58 years, has visited Australia, and is famed as a hig game shot and expert rubber planter. He also races his own horses and ponies.
