THREE MEN FINED AS RESULT OF POLICE RAID

HAWERA, Wednesday. Thomas Henderson Teesdale, tearoom proprietor, who had been previously fined £50 for a similar offence was to-day fined £100 by Mr. Salmon, S.M , for carrying on the business of a boolcmaker. For assisting in the control of a common gam'ng house, William Elder was fined £20, while Sarnuel Pivac, restaurant keeper was fined £15 on a bookmaking charge. The offences were admitted by the three named, whose arrest was
was the result of a police raid pn various premises in the town on November 11. A fourth man arrested, Chanel Cullinane, pleaded not guilty and was remanded on charges of al- : leged bookmaking and keeping a common gaming house. Charles Francis Taylor, and George Wilkam Brobden were each fined £2 for being found in a common gaming house and two others were remanded on a similar charge. 1 11 .. . «'
