ANTIVIVISECTION
SOCIETY FRAMES QUESTIONS FOR PARLIAMENTARY CANDIDATES VORONOFF TREATMENT The following letter is being forwarded to candidates for Parliament by the Humanitarian and Anti-Vivi-section Society of New Zealand, whose headquarters are in Christchurch : — We desire to ask you, not only in the interests of children and adults of New Zealand, but especially in the interests of suffering dumb animals, Whether, if elected to the New Zealand Parliament you will vote against any inedical practitioners resident in, or visiCng New Zealand, making use
of by vivisecting the sex glands of monkeys or other animals for transplantation of such sex glands to humans, viz., young boys, men, and women? By the question above we refer to the so-caded "rejuvenation" of the aged as practiced by the surgeon, Sergius Yoronoft', director of Experimental Su:-gery of the College de France. Voionoff "rejuvenation" opera4ions, consist in transplantation of the repro Juctive glands of clther sex fr ora : — (a) One animal to another ani-n-al. • Ch) A monkey to man. t'e) Man to man. Tlr's terrible cult received the :aneticn of the Commonwealth Par"ament rt Crnherra lest year (1930) ':o aliow a doctor cf Sydney to im- . ort (and torture) defenceless apes V.o A'vxfcraMa for these disgusting jperavlcns. Auslralia is dangerously near this kmin on and oar Society wishes to m event not only the agonising torture to living apes in removal of their
sex glands, but also the demoralising effect on the human population in the Dominion. In June, 1927, Sergius Voronoff annonnced : — "An eight year old boy has already been fitted with a third gland, and is expected to be the foreruner of a new race." Voronoff has already trained over 300 surgeons for this demoralising cult. The foregoing shows the danger to our young boys. The "rejuvenation" only lasts some six years, when it has to be done over again. We desire to know whether you would oppose in Parliament any suggestion of torturing animals especially for the dex glands transplantations referred to? We await yonr reply, Yours faithfully, MABEL HOUSTON, Dominion President. Humanitarian and Anti- Viviseetion Society, of N.Z. (Inc.), Christchurch, Nov. 7,
