COALITION PARTIES FAIL TO AGREE IN AUCKLAND EAST ELECTORATE SIR G. RICHARDSON'S VIEWS

AUCKLAND, Saturday. An impasse has been reached in the endeavours oAthe United and Ref orm Party executives in Auckland to seleet a Coalition eandidate for Auckland East, vice Mr. J. B. Donald who recehtly retired from the contest. The United exeeutive intends to proeeed independently with the nomination of Dr. V/. H. Horton. The Reform Party had put forward Sir George Richardson who, however, declares he will stand only if the Reform Party and the United Party are unanimously agreed. The Leader of the Reform Party, the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, arrived this morning and immediately went into conference with the electoral cominittees in an endeavour to straight'en out the selection tangles. Mr. Coates said, that there were a few seats in New Zealand for which officiai candidates had not yet "been , selected, but an effort was being made to sele'ct them at the earliest moment.
