TORONTO, Friday. Seven members of the Communist Party of Canada were sentenced to terms of five years' imprisonment on two counts and two years on a third eount, the sentenees running concurrently, by Mr. Justice Wright to-day. Ari eighth Communist was sentenced to two years' imprisonment. A ninth man had previously been eharged, owing to lack of evidence. The Court recommended the deportation ;of seven men at the expiration of their sentenees, and authorised the seizure of all property owned by the Communist Party of Canada: The sentenees on the Communists proniises to produce a widespread qlean-up of the Reds throughout the Doniinion. Other, provinces, regarding the way cleared by the Ontario prosecutions, are considering steps to suppress GdmmUnist agitators. The Mayor of Winnipeg, Mr. Ralph Webb, has announced that he will request the Manitoba Government to enact more stringent police regulations against the Reds in the next Legislature session. The Attorney-Gerieral of British Columbia declares that the outcome strengthens the hands of the proprevent agitators provoking strikes vincial and municipal authorities to and demonstrations.
