PROWLER CAUGHT
SURPRISED IN ACT OF ENTERING HpTEL WINDOW ESCAPES BUT RECAPTURED Seeing a man endeavouring to prise open a window at the rear of the building at a late hour on Saturday night, a maid employed at the- Geyser Hotel, Whaka, gave the alarm, and a porter, assisted by a boarder, sueceeded in surprising the prowler in the act of entering the hotel. While the p'ort'er was telephonihg the police station from the hotel office, however, the man made "a su'dden break for freedom and surprising two boarders, who were guarding him, escaped through the - side door of the vestibule and made off.. His period of freedom was short, however, for yesterday afternoon he was discovered in Rotorua ahd arrest ed-by Gonstable Kellyv.; I-t. is understoo'd, the man will mahe his appearance in the police court this mornihg.
