Conditiohstl authority for the termination of the emplojnment of married teachers is coritairied in the Finance Bill (No. 4) introdueed in the House of Representatives to-day, , Subject to three.months' notice heing given, any education board may terminate the engagement. of any married woman teaeher in its service. Before giviUg notice, however, the board must have receiyed and cbnsidered a report from its senior irisjjeettogether with such recomriiendntions as he thinks fit to make. . . The right bf appeal agninst. rh'smissal will, of course, still • apply and the pourt of Appeal will take irito consideration the financial , pb'sltion and responsibilities of appellant and her- husband. If the Co'urt is o'f the opinion that the terminatiqn of the teacher's epgag'ement .would constitute an undue hardship it may- grant the appeal. The annual grant to s.ehool committees for general purposes is reduced from 3/6 to 2/6 for every child in attendance. Another clause exempts from rates lands other than endowments heid by education authorities.
