Oddfellows' Jewel Presented At a social evening recently held in the Druids' Hall under the auspices of the combined lodges of the I.O.O-F. of the Rotorua district and their friends a Past D.D.G.M.'s jewel was presented to Bro. A. D. Dibley, as a token of appreciation of the- good work done by him during his term of oifice. The presentation was made by Bro. L. G. Libeau, D.D.G.M., who in the course of his remarks commended Bro. Dibley for his untiring i efforts to help forward the work of the Order. That Bro. Dibly's efforts were appreciated by the lodges under his jurisdiction was borne out by the fact that his term of office was extended for two years, Bro. Dibley having just completed four years as D.D. G.M. Bro. Dibley, P.D.D.G.M., thanked the Bros. and Sisters for their token of esteem, stating that what he had done had been pleasnre, as he could always depend on the loyal support of all the lodges under his jurisdiction.

More Underground Water After safely excavating 250 feet of the feeder main to a depth of 12 feet, workmen engaged on linking up the borough sewerage pumping station in King Street with the reticulation, struck trouble yesterday when water from one of the underground streams in the vicinity broke througff and flooded the trench. It will now be necessary to instal pumps to draw off the water while the pipes are being laid. Four hundred feet of steel rising main to carry the sewerage from the pumps to the higher levels, has also to be laid, but as this main will pass through country of a different description, it is not anticipated that any trouble from underground water will be encountered. Well Completed The construction of the second well to supplement the water supply at the Rotorua abattoirs was completed yesterday when the pumps were linked up and the trial flow was satisfactorily tested. Peculiarly enough, the construction of this well was necessitated by the Napier earthquake which so lowered the level in the original well that the water supply became insufficient for the needs of the works. Dunedin Re-union, Five members of the Rotorua Rotary Club, Messrs. J. H. Buddle, T. Kelly, G. French, H. H. Hamilton, and M- Roland, yesterday accompanied Mr. H. Guthrie, of Dunedin, New Zealand District Rotary Governor, who is at present visiting Rotorua, on a brief tour of the district. The party was made up at random but it was discovered en route that all five of the Rotorua Rotarians had previously resided in Dunedin and therefore had a community of interest with Mr. Guthrie. Boys' Band A further meeting to further the promotion of the organisation of the Rotorua Boys' Band has been called for next Tuesday evening when the adoption of rules and the election of officers will be proceeded with. A new selection of books from Nelson's Edinburgh Library has just arrived. Call in and look over the titles; you are sure to be interested in many. These are the latest and of i very high class. — Central Book Shop (M. and B. Dorset), next Grand Theatre.
