BROADCAST AND TRANSPORT BILLS DEALT WITH

WELLINGTON, last night. Two important Government Bills disappeared off the Order Paper as the result of to-night's sitting of the House of Representatives. These were the Broadcasting Bill, which provideH for the transfer o*f coritrol to an independent board of three members, and. the Transport Licensing Bill No. 2, which aims at the co-ordination of road and rail transport, and which is not so drastie as the. Transport Bill No. 1 which will now be dropped. The Land Laws Amendment Bill and the Education Reserves Amendment Bill, two measures designed to facilitate the provision of relief to Crown tenants were returned from the Lands Committee without amendment. An alteration in the constitution of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research and provision for the appointment of an Industrial division of it, were contained in a similar amendment to the Scientific an,d Industrial Research Bill introduced by the Governor-General's message, and additional clauses in the Local Legislation Bill were presented. There was nothing referring to Rotorua in this Bill. "
