FARMERS DECIDE TO DISOBEY NEW TRANSPORT REGULATION S TRAMWAY TAKINGS INCREASED

SYDNEY, Thursday. The secretary of the Farmers' Transport Defence Union stated that many farmers intend to continue running lorries into the market in defiance of thp Transport Board's regulations. Even if procesuted they will go to gaol rather than pay the fines. The Transport Board announced that thes new scheme of transport- coordination had already brought about a big improvement in the tramways. On the first two days on which the scheme was operated the average takings increased 10 per cent., the increase being more than £3000. The board estimates that the increased revenue from the railways and tramways will amount to £2,000,000 a year.
