Rec. Nov. 5, 5.5 p.m. ' LONDON, Wednesday. The death is announced of MajorGeneral A. W. Thorneycroft, C.B., at the age of 72 years. General Thorneycroft, who eommanded the Australians and Ne.w Zealanders in the Western Transvaal during the Boer War, was much criticised for ordering the abandonment of Spionkop.
