MR. LLOYD GEORGE STANDS ALOOF FROM PARTY NEW LEADER ELECTED
RUGBY, Wednesday. The Liberal Parliamentary party icted Sir Herbert Samuel as leader succession to Mr. Lloyd George. e latter had made it known that did not desire to be nominated, and a letter to Sir Herbert Samuel he ited that he was completely at riance with the disastrous course to which the party had been rently guided. He was not a canditate for any of:e in the Liberal group. He expressthe hope that by the New Year 3 health would be fully restored, d said he was looking forward to -operating w'th all who had at art the advancement of those ideals which so many millions rallied pefully in 1929. Sir Herbert Samuel stressed the imrtance of national unity. He sa:d was convinced it was possible for e Conservative and Liberal parties Iwork together without losing their Sals. The Liberals might assume at the policy laid down by the Prime inister would be maintained if the overnment was to have a career of uitful activity. He regretted Mr. Llody George ould not be co-operating with them . this time.
