SEARCH FOR CLUES LARGE FORCE OF DETECTIVES ENGAGED ON CASE GREAT PUBLIC INTEREST

AUCKLAND, Wednesday The mystery surrounding1 the death of Mr. Arthur James Blomfield, the chemist who was brutally attacked in his shop in Wellesley Street on Friday afternoon, has not been solved. The great public interest in the case has been refleeted in a number of communieations to the police, an exceptionally large number of suggestions having been received yesterday. A large force of detectives eontinues the investigation of the murder. This morning detectives and constables searched a gully in the city, where it is reported a strange man had been seen, but nothing was found. A police officer expressed the opinion that the crime was unpremeditated and tpointed out t that such crimes are very difficult to solve.
