SPECIAL LICENSING BILL
Prevision for the licensing of moun- t tain guides is made in a small Bill in- J troduced in the House of Represent- , atives. j Power is given for the framing of regulations by Order in Council for the licensing of Guides for expeditions into mountains or unfrequented parts of the Dominion, according to conditions to be laid down. The regulations will also prescibe a scale of fees and will state the minimum number and classification of licensed guides that may be employed on any expedition, as well as the terms and conditions of employment of guides. Unlicensed persons, will be prohibited from acting as guides for remuneration, and a similar veto will be placed on the employment of unlicensed guides, A board is to be established for the issue, renewal, and .revokation of licences. The constitution and procedure of the board is to be prescribed by Order in Council. Provision will be made for fines not exceeding £20 for failure to comply with the regulations.
