At midnight to-night 440 motor buses which have been competing with the trams and tra'ins in the Metropolitan area will cease running in con- ' sequence of the recent legislation under which a heavy passenger toll is imposed on motor-buses competing with the Government transportation j system. Those buses acting as feeders escape the levy. At least 2,500 employees will be rendered idle as a result of the stoppage and public indignation is at f ever heat.
