df LONDON, Thursday. -TJj It is generally expected that Mr. _ Philip Snowden, Chancellor of the Exchequer in the National Government and who did not seek re-election , r to the House of Commons, will be ,e' elevated to the peerage. ^ Hopes are expressed by the news,0] papers that when he relinquishes the post of Chancellor of the Exchequer, al which is invariably held by a member .•e of the House of Commons, his services will in some capacity be rey( tained by the Government'. r It is expected that Mr. Neville Chamberlain will succeed Mr. Snowden as Chancellor of the Exchequer.
