MASTERTON, Thursday. The mailman, on arrivmg a£ Longbush to-day, fousid a letter addressed to him stating that the writer was going to make a heap of logs in a nearby paddock, saturat.e them v/ith kerosene, and shoot himself on top of the pile. The mailman went to the spot indicated and there found the cliarred remains of a man's body. The deceased v/as Richard Monte- . ray Harcourt, a gardenelr, 65 years of age. As far as is known he was a ssngle man »vithou£ relatives in the Dominion. He was employed by Mr. Peter McLaren, who left him in the morning, when Harcourt was then in his normal state of health.
