ALASKAN VOLCANO
FAMOUS JESUIT SCIENTIST RETURNS FROM VOYAGE. SAN FRANCISCO. Father Bernard J. Hubbard, S.J., "Padre of the Glaciers," and famous Jesuit seientist of the Uniyersity of Santa Clara, has arrived in San Francisco from an exploration of the historic Anairchak Volcano in southeastern Alaska in search of geological data.
A seething crater, 20 miles wide, in which spouting volcanic . vents dot the spheres of a deep fresh water lake; bears whose hides are dried and hardened by the hot ashes that penetrate the fur; desolate snow fields spread like a thick coat of 'black embers are some of the pictures revealI ed by the famed Jesuit explorer who has risked his life time and again in tho^wilds of Alaska in search of geological data.
