"AMERICA'S DUTY AND OPPORTUNITY" EXPORT CREDITS FOR EUROPE

Rec. Oct. 27, 7.20 p.m. WASHINGTON, Tuesday. Discussing the Federal Farm Board's consideration of an international credit for the sale of AmeriJ can wheat and cotton to France, and perhaps other European countries, the chairman, Mr. Stone, stated that no I saies of wheat or cotton to France j had been arranged* but France undoubtedly needed large quantities of both. Further consideration of the proposal would depend upon the outcome of M. Dupasquier's conference with the New York bankers and the Federal Reserve Board. Mr. Stone asserted that the establishment of credit for European purchasers of American commodities was more necessary than before Great Britain's abandonment of the gold standard. "It is the duty and the opportunity of the United States to take over Great Britain's role of handling export credit," he said.
