LABOUR DAY
HOLIDAY ATTRACTIONS IN ROTORUA SPORT AND ENTERTAINMENT FOR VISITORS
The Labour Day -vveek-end commences to-day and shops and business premises will be closed on Monday. Rotorua, for a day or two, will be purely a holiday resort. A special train will arrive from Auckland this morning bringing large numbers of .people from that city and from stations aiong the line. Many will also arrive by service car and private motors. The various sports, such as golf, b owls* and tennis, will be well patronised and on Monday, f the opening • day of the new Rotorua Speedway, will see many ' hundreds gathered at the dirt track to wit-. ne'ss the thrills of motor-cycle broad- j sidi'ng on the quarter-miile course. tournament is to be staged by the Rotorua Bowling Club. This will be open to visitors as well as club memclose at 9.15 a.m. on Monday. The first representative cricket match of the "season will be combers. Entries for this competition mjenced at 10.30 a.m. on Monday when Rotorua will meet Te Puke, at the Government Grounds. The game, which is a friendly eontest, should produce some keen cricket. On Monday a grand speedway celebration dance. is to he held at the Majestic Ballroom. to welcome the speed kings to the town. Those wishing to bathe in Rotorua's mineral waters mAy do so at the Ward Baths, which will he open oii Sunday morning and .evening and ali day on Monday.
