The effect of new shades of blue may give us a pensive, wistful expression — but they harmonise so beeomingly with our gracefully demure clothes that we sort of appreciate the picture created. Of the light blues, there was a modernistic night-dress ensemhle combined with blue lace insertions. Of satin, the effect was one of delicate charm — as was an evening gown of the same pale shade. This gown, designed by Adrian, showed a formal note in its long train finish with its waist-line bodice giving a bolero effect. Another evening gown was of pow-der-blue georgette crepe with circular ruffles dipping down the back to give a clinging line — which was especilly effective when Miss CraWford was. in motion. Rhinestpnd beads, sewn on the ruffles, gave the needed weight to affect this form-fitting line,
