GOLD FIND The old song anent "picking up gold in the street" was given a modern twist the other day, says the Thames Star, when one of the relief workers who are engaged in putting through the cutting at the upper end of Richmond Street, picked up a piece of specimen stone carrying a large showing of gold. The specimen was about 4in. long by 2in. wide and 2in. deep, and according to old miners, contain3 over an ounce of gold. It wa& sporting of the worker, himself an old miner, that he offered to give a "cut" in his find to his six mates. There should bei a good deal of keenness evinced amongst anem-_
