MURUPARA NOTES

PLAIN AND FANCY DRESS BALL
The Rangitaiki hall was filled to overflowing on the night of the 16th inst., the oceasion being a hall under the auspxces of the Murupara branch j of the Labour : Party. Th© belle of the ball was Miss Joan Varney,, who was dressed as a lady of the Early Yictorian .. period and the beau was Mr. Alan North, who was dressed as an Indian Prince. For juveniles, first prizes went to Master Varney and Joan Benson? who wero dressed as ar{ Indian brave and Daffodil respectively. . . "the grand march was lead off % Mr. and Mrs. Vax-ney, M?s. Varney wearing a black Frexiclx si|k co'stume. The first prize in the waitzixig competition was won b'y Mr. and Mfs. F. Hearn, of Te "Whaiti. A inost attractive supper was provided b'y the ladies and the evening's entertainment proved a great Success.
