The trouble in connection with the ! meat export trade has now affected I the Homebush abbatoirs near Sydney, I the slaughtermen refusing to work on i Saturday. |- Some 8000 lambs should have. been i killed last Sai/urday but the men j had absented themselves from their j work and only returned to-day. The ! same trouble is expected next Satur- ; day. The employers complain of the heavy loss through the wastage while the lambs are waiting in the yard. Moreover, the men's award, which al- ! lows them to earn up to £3 per day, provides for Saturday work during the export season.
