REVOLUTION IN IRISH FREE STATE WOULD BE RUINOUS "SINFUL AND IRRELIGIOUS"
(Press Assn.-
— Copyright).
DUBLIN, Sunday. A pastoral issued by the Roman Catholic Arehbishop and Bishops was read in the churches throughout Ireland. The pastoral condemns the campaign of revolution and communism which, if not checked, will end in the ruination of Ireland, body and soul. It refers to the operations of the Militarist Society, which* avowedly j aims at the overthrow of the State j by force and associated with which . is a new organisation named the Saor j Eire. The Saor Eire is frankly eommun- ! istic, and aims to mobilise the work- j ers and working farmers behind the revolutionary movement which is designed to set up a communistic state and impose upon Catholic Ireland the same materialistic God-hating regime which is dominating Russia and threatening to dominate Spain. The pastoral adds:-^-"It is our duty to say plainly that these two organisations are sinful and irreligious, and no catholic can lawfully he a member of them."
