(Press Assn

—Copyright.)

Rec. Oct. 19, 5.5 p.m. LONDON, Sunday. Under a bombardment of chairs hurled from the front ranks of a crowd of 20,000 people filling a Birmingham hall, Sir Oswald Mosley and his principal supporters retired from a riotous meeting through a small back door ^ after Sir Oswald Mosley himself, in the absence of his husky henchman, "Kid" Lewis, a noted boxer, had repeatedly used his fists on the attackers. i The disturbance hroke out when, owing to defective amplifying mech'anism, Sir Oswald Mosley could not make himself heard. The stalwarts tackled the rowdies, after which the mobs became hostile and rushed the platform, amidst the shrieks of women. After Sir Oswald Mosley escaped, 100 constables entered amidst flying furniture, but could not restore order until every chair was smashed and the barrier of the platform damaged. Many members in the audience were treated for injuries and shock.
