SUCCESSFUL DANCE
BA3KETBALL FUNCTION PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES Swinging, rythmic music, multieoloured streamers, balloons, confetti and novelty dances all comhined to give the annual dance held by the members of the Rotorua Basketball Association in the Majestic Ballroom on Thursday evening, an air of carnival festivity. Blue and gold were the dominant colours in the supper room;, while a variety of spring flowers decorated the tables which were arranged in Cabaret fashion. The supper itself fully repaid the elforts of the committee. During the evening Miss Del Thompson and Miss Avon Hawkins gave as an exhibition dance their successful number recently featured in Miss Thompson's reeital. This was en-
thusiastically received by the audience. After supper Mr E. G. Guy, speaking on behalf of Miss Murray, the club president, and the members cf the other teams briefly congratulated the members of the Kowhai team, winners of the championship. Miss Murray then presented the championship cup to Miss Bates and silver buttons to the members of the winning team: Miss F. Bates (captain), Miss Del Thompson, Miss Berge, Miss D. Emieny, Miss E Hardie, Miss L. Lewis, Miss R. Woolliams, Miss B. Dorset, Miss M. Carter, Miss E. Rushton. In conelusion Mr Guy announced the winners of the 500 tournament as Mrs Neil and Mrs Jackson, Mrs Fairley and Mr Steele. The committee who organised the dance and who were responsible for its being such a success from the first dance to the last comprised, Mrs Guy, Miss Murray, Miss B. Vaughau, Miss B. Newmarsh, Miss F. Bates and Miss Jean Isdale.Those present included: Miss Murray, midnight blue chenille, Mrs Guy, blaclc georgette, beaded in silver, Mrs C. Managh, fawn floral georgette; Mrs E. T.
