Rec. Oct. 16, 9.45 p.m. LONDON, Thursday. To-day is nomination day and seldom have the names of the candidates been awaited with keener interest, as only the full list will reveal the extent to which unity has been achieved in the interests of the National Government. Before three o-'colck about 1250 candidates will have handed in their papers, 450 fewer than in 1929. There will be 260 straight-out fights between Conservatives and Socialistsj while 15 National Labour candidates will have straight-out fights with Social-ist-Labour. There are at present 69 candidates unopposed. These include the Speaker, Captain E. H. Fitzroy and the following members of the present ministry. Mr Stanley Baldwin, Mr Duff Cooper, Sir Robert Hamilton, Sir B. M. Eyres-Monsell, Sir Frederick Thompson, Sir Thomas Inskip, Mr. Isaac Foot, Major Clive Stanley, and Major McKenzie Wood. The Women's Freedom League gives a provisional list of women candidates, including 13 Conservatives, 28 Labour, eight Liberals, two Gommunists, and three National-La-bour.
