employment Committee, at its meeting on Thursday night, decided to make representations to the Unemployment Board asking it to proeeed as soon as possible with the establishment of a single men's camp oh the area of 14Q,00Q aeres of Crown Lafid on th'e Tauranga-Taupo . lief for the single men, whom it is not possible to employ under the No. 5 Scheme on account of the smaller amounfc of subsidy available, a reconimendation has been made" that the single men (approximately • 120) should be given employment under the camp scheme, in the. development of an area of 46 acres of Borough land adjoining the Wairoa Road. The proposal is that the area be broughfc into cultivation as a garden plpt and, when fully develpped, hande.4 f° a number of the men to Work 9s a market garden, :so giving them a source of income, ;instead of their being dependant upon the Government.
