Albion Cricket Team The following players will represent the Albion Cricket Club in a mateh against High School on Saturday at the High School Grounds. Old Boys' Cricket Team The Old Boys cricket team to play City at the High School' Grounds on Saturday at 2 p.m. will be selected from the following : — Matthews, Musgrave, Cottrell, Godsalve, Heley, Kinnimont, Neeson, Kingi, Mitchell, A., Hayward, J., Ewert, Lewis, H., Edge, Kelly. - Waikaremoana Road Open The Te Whaiti- WaikaremoanaWairoa Road, which has been closed by slips since September 6, the date of the heavy snowstorm, has now been re-opened to traffic. A motorist
yesterday drove through to Rotorua from Wairoa, making the trip in hours. He reported that the whole !of the road is in very good order with the exception of about 20 miles between Ruatahuna and Te Whaiti, I where pot holes make the going somewhat unpleasant. Scrub Fire at Nursery A call was reeeived by the Rotorua Fire Brigade at 1.30 p.m. yesterday to a fire in some scrub alongside the Forestry Department's nursery at Whaka. When the brigade arrived, forestry rangers had the fire under control. Superintendent Anderson stated that th'e cause of the fire was probably a carelessly thnown match or cigarette butt, and emphasised the danger of this practice, especially in the vicinity of forestry plantations, where great damage could easily he done should a fire get a start unchecked. Youth's Finger Crushed A young man named Harold Short, employed as a meehanic at Timberlands, was admitted to the Kiiig George Y. Hospital yesterday morning suffering from a crushed finger. "Puss" Moth Returning Captain J. D. Hewitt will fly the Rotorua Airways' "Puss" Moth 'plane j to Rotorua shortly before the Labour Day week-end. Arrangements have been made by the Rotorua Airways for Captain Hewitt to remain in Rotorua over the holiday week-end in order that the 'plane may be available for passenger flights during the period. Borough Council By-Election Nominations of candidates for the forthcoming by-election to fill the vacancy on the Rotorua Boroueh
Council caused by the resignation of Councillor W. Galbraith will elose with the returning officer, Mr W. A. McLean, at the Yictofia Institute at noon to-day. The election will he held on Wednesday, October 28. Candidate at By-EIection Mr R. Griffiths last evening ad'vised the "Post" that, in response to re~ quests from several business people and citizens of Rotorua, he has decided to allow himself to be nominated as a candidate at the coming Borough Council by-election.

Yesterday, reports the "Post's" Reporoa correspondent, there were 22 children absent from the local school on account of illness. Revaluations at Reporoa Advice has been reeeived at Reporoa, reports the "Post's" correspondent that, following the settlers' petition to Parliament, it has been decided in many cases to ante-date the revaluations of blocks in the settlement to the dates of the leases.
