MOTOR NOTES BY "SPARK PLUG"

FORD GARAGE.

That the name of Ford is synonymous with efficiency is amply demonstrated to anyone paying a visit to the Rotorua Ford Garage in Fenton Street. The general assumption that it is the privilege of those who work with motor machinery to be dirty, is quickly dispelled at this up-to-date gai-age. When a "Post" representative recently. paid an early morning surprise visit to the Rotorua Ford garage he was impressed with the remarkable clealiness of the premises. "A proper place for everything and everything in its proper place" is the p'roud slogan of the management and staff. Passing from the general office, close to the street entrance, we were shown the spare parts department where considerably over £1000 worth of Ford parts alone are stored. Passing into the workshop, the same care and cleanliness is in evidence, the mechanics clad in neat overalls which are supplied clean each week. A wonderful collection of the most delicate engineering tools, to the value of many hundreds of pounds, is here displayed and may be seen at a glance by the busy mechanic and taken down without any loss of time and it is never returned to its rack unless it is perfectly clean. The Black and Decker valve grinding equipment, the cutting stopes trued with diamond point, and the micrometers which measure to a thousandth part of an inch, are some of the latest and most efficient engineering plant in this modern garage. The battery charging plant is capable of charging many batteries at one time. All equipment for reboring and honing cylinder blocks, also for rebabbiting main bearings, perform very useful purposes. In addition to greasing guns for every make of car, there is one which works by compressed air at a pressure of 70001bs to the square inch. The hoist in the building is worked by compressed air and is capable of lifting a load of three tons. No rubbish is allowed to accumulate at the Ford Garage, where all junk is cafted away when necessary. The Used Car Department has proved a boon to motorists, as it is possible to obtain most of the Ford motor parts here at half price. Large selections of interior parts and also many larger parts such as mudguards, cushions, ete., are neatly stored av/ay where motorists who wish to obtain a spare part may do so at a considerable saving to themselves, (Published by Arrangement.)
