TO-NIGHT
SPECIAL MATiNEE" TO-DAY (FRIDAY.) There's no earthly doubt about it, a Tom Wall's.. picture. belies the timehonoured contention that anticipation is umpteen times better thari realisation. When a- British Dominions'-Tom Walls picture is announced, one naturally. falls. to anticipating the fun to come, but there are never any disappointments when Breezy Tom is on the job. Walls firat revealed his sparkling persoriality in "JRoolcery. Nook,'.' and then, .hef ore we . had quite finished laughing, ha plundered our stoek. pf laughs by . cavorting. as.: the .totally irresporisible Duke of Bristol in "On Approval." . Now Tom returns to ariiuse the audiences of the.Majestic Theatre in . "Cariaries. Sometimes Sing," . a British . Dominions' adaptation of Frederick Lonsdale's play, which was a smash hit on the boards in London. . . "Ganaries. Sometimea Sing" really doesn't concern an aviary or anything like that; mqrely a set of eomplicated situations, and four people who. perform the most o,dd acts, and say, the most foolish,- yet most. screamingly funny. things. The only representar tive of the bird family appearing in the picture is Percy, a mute little fellow to whom Tom Walls. tells his troubles and deprives him of a mate put of sheer sorrow, for he, .himself, having ever acquiredr a spouse — and what a spouse! Percy eventually finds the odd situations of the piece so much to his liking that he burst.s into glorious song; hence the strange, "though different title. ; . . Other members of the cast, besides Walls, are Athole Stewart, Yvonne Arnaud (who will be remembered. f or her excellent, portrayal of the widow in "On Approval") and Cathleen Nesbitt. . - ■> . . Included in the sriprts is a really good Mickey the Mouse. partoon.
