BALLROOMS FIT TO DANCE IN

The Board of Control of Ballroom Dancing has put its foot down on the "Heebie-Jeebies," hanished the Blues, ostracised the "Rumba" and the "Black Bottom" and murdered the "Moochie," states the Daily Mail, Lond.on. Ballrooiris this season are to be made fit to dance in, for the board has announced that no new dances 1 shall be introduced. This will be good news for dancers, if had news fpr the inventors of hody wriggles with barbaric names. No longer will they exploit negro kicks and Zulu leaps. There will be danced this year the stately Viennese waltz of our grandparents, the tango/popularised by the Prince of Wales since his visit to. the Argentine, the slow fox-trot, and the quickstep." These are. dances which suit the dignity of long f rocks, long gloves, and long hair. The people who were driven out of the ballrooms by the battle dances are now expected gladly to go back. "-The steps in the, waltz, the fortrot, and the tango have reached such a stage of perfection now," said Mr. Victor Sylvester, a West End dancing instructor, "that we are standardising them. We shall know exactly where we are. We do not.need any new and wild dances. The waltz and the fox-trot are the acme of rhythmic grace."
