INTER-ISLAND MATCH
FIRST EVENT IN LADIES GOLF TOURNAMENT TO-DAY CLOSE CONTESTS EXPECTED The 35th Ladies' New Zealand Golf Championship meeting commences to-day, the first event being an InterIsland teams match over 18 holes. Eight representatives have been selected from each Island on their L.G.U. handicaps and the games will end on the 18th green, the winners to receive trophies presented by the New Zealand Ladies' Golf Union. The most interesting contest will be the match between Miss O. Kay and Miss Gai^ford, who are the outstanding players in the tournament. Both players are showing splendid form and the match should be very evenly contested. Rotorua interest will probably centre round the match between Mrs E. L. Young and Miss Culling, Mrs Young being a former well-known local golfer, and Miss Culling, one of Aucldand's most prominent representatives. Following the Inter-Island match, the first bogey handicap and the first round of the Rattray C'up will be played. This match has attracted a very large number of entries. Following is the draw for the In-■ter-Island teams Match: — 9.0: Miss Gaisford (N.) v. Miss O. Kay (S.). ' 9.5: Mrs D. Wilson (N.) v. Miss Chrystall (S.). 9.10: Mrs Guy Williams (N.) v.
