KANCHENJUNGA EXPEDITION

Rec. Oct. 6, 7.5 p.m. CALCUTTA, Tuesday. According to the newspaper "Statesman," Dr. Paul Bauer's expedition to Kanchenjunga was defeated when within 2000 feet of the summit, by an unexpected 500 foot wall of rock and ice, which it was impossible to scale owing to the great danger of avalanches.
