GENERAL ELECTION
NOT REFERRED TO IN SUPPLEMENTARY BUDGET PRIME MINISTER QUESTIONED WELLINGTON, last night. The absence of any reference to the general election in the Supplementary Budget was commented upon by Labour members in the House of Representatives to-night and attempts were made during the debate on the Customs resolution to draw a statement from the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. G, W. Forbes. "I would like to ask the Prime Minister if the elections will be held at the usual time," said the Leader of the Opposition, Mr. H. E. Holland, after the Prime Minister had moved the adjournment of the House. "The Minister of Finance cannot tell us anything in regard to the matter, which we know has been under consideration," he said. "I suppose that the Prime Minister will let us know what the intentions of the Government are." "I will make a statement at the earliest possible opportunity," replied Mr. Forbes. Mr. Holland: "Hardly." Mr. Armstrong: "It is confidential."
