NEW BAY OF PLENTY SUBASSOCIATION FIRST "MEETING. OFFICERS ELECTED. The first meeting of the recently constituted Bay of Plenty Lawn Tennis Sub- Association was held in Rotorua on Friday evening, when the draft constitution formulated at the initial meeting was formally confirmed. Dr. S. H. Hay presided over a representative gathering of delegates from the Tauranga, Te Puke, Whakatane, Ngongotaha and Rotorua Clubs. The election of officers' for the Sub-Assocation resulted : — President, Dr S. H. Hay; Vice -President, Mr. R. H, Phelafi (Tauranga) ; Secretary and Treasurer, Mr. G. T. McDowell (Rotorua) ; Delegate to the Auckland Association, Mr. W. Pitts (Ngongotaha) ; Audtior, Mr. J. Cunningham. It was resolved that the sub-asso-ciation should be afiiliated with the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association, and the delegate was instructed to support the claim of the Rotorua Lawn Tennis Club for tfte holding of this year's North Island Championship in Rotorua. It was decided to promote a system of inter-club competitions and in order to facilitate this, the district was divided into two zones: Tauranga, Tauranga South, Te Puke, Ngongotaha, and Rotorua Clubs will constitute one zone, and Whakatane, Taneatua, Opotiki and Waimana Clubs the other. Teams for the competition are to consist of four ladies and four men, all matches to be of three sets, the last set advantage. It was left to the committee to draw up rules and other defails for the commencement of the competition. It was decided to allocate the Dunlop Shield as a competition trophy. The matter of arranging inter-as-sociation matches was left to the committee and it was resolved that no tournament open to outside playei'S should be conducted in the sub-asso-ciation's district until the date for such tournament had been approved by the committee.
