HUNT CLUB BALL

The Majestic ballroom last Friday . evening was a scene of gaiety, colour and general festivity, when members of the Rotorua Hunt Club held their annual ball. Large green pungas and bright camelias formed a picturesque background for the eoloured streame(rs and balloons, while the significance of the evening was portrayed by riders' saddles, caps and crops arranged about the room. The supper-room was most effeetively decorated in red and green streamers, flags, greenery and daffodils. The tables were lit by red-shaded lamps. Messrs. F. W. Smith and G. Giesen ably controlled the programme, while Mr. Epi Shalfoon and his Melody Boys contributed largely towards making the evening the success it was. During the evening the Master, Dr. H. V. Bertram, spoke briefly, c ongr atulating the winners of the trophies won at the Gymkhana on Wednesday, and stating that to say that his position was a hard one was incorrect, as he had never worked with so capable and so willing a committee.
