WASHINGTON, Tues. Permission to sink the submarine Nautilus in the North Sea off the coast of Norway was granted to-day to Sir Hubert Wilkins by the Shipping Board, which at first refused to grant such permission. Sir Hubert Wilkins, however, explained that he considered it would be dangerous to attempt an ocean crossing. Sir Hubert said the Nautilus had proved the practicabili'ty of passing under the polar ice pack. The most anxious moment was when the ice drills began sticking. It then became a question of whether they would have to retreat or get through. It was a tieklish time.
