-PROFESSIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP IS ANNEXED BY PADGHAM VICTORY FOR YOUTH
-By Telegraph — Copyright) .
LONDON, Saturday. Padgham was the victor in the golf tournament in mid-Surrey which is regarded as the professional championship of England. He has refused an offer to succeed Alliss in Berlin, owing to his desire to play for the Ryder Cup, from which British professionals resident abroad are debarred. "It is almost impossihle to imagine better golf than Padgham's which was very cheering owing to his youthfulness," says the golf critic of the "Times." Padgham, who is 25 years of age, over a course of nearly 6500 yards scored four holes under 4. He has a leisurely scoring shot with immense power; his high iron shots are magnificent and his putting caused enthusiast3 to exclaim: "Vardon has come back." Padgham made scarcely a mistake. Seymour, the runner-up, courageously clung on, and even when four down he was not downhearted. 1.48. o
