WAIKATO BRIDGE

decision reached by local bodies at hamilton meeting DETAILS OF STRUCTURE HAMILTON, Friday. Unanimity on a proposal to erect a reinforced concrete bridge over the Waikato R'ver at Hamilton to cost approximately £21,500, was reachcd at a conference of local bodies, held this afternoon. The bridge provides for a roadway of 20 feet and two footpatns five feet in width. The Government has promised £8000 toward the cost of the bridge. It is stated that for a bridge costing about £24,000 the local bodies' contributions would he apportioncd as followrs: Hamilton Borough and Waikato Countjq £7300 each; Waira County, £1700. The Mayor, Dr. F. D. Pinfold, in moving that the scheme be approved, said that by voting for the resolution, the conference would not be committing the local bodies in any way. The matter rested with the local bodies to take further action.
